About Me
Katrina “Kat” Brewer— or “Brewhouse,” if you ask my high school history teacher. I started The Scrum Report, from the scrum, so to speak: coming at sports from the outside in, binding together my love of anime and art.” the term
I grew up in the Bay Area around the teal of the San Jose Sharks and San Francisco gold-and-scarlet 49ers, but I came to sports differently—through the emotional gravity of “Air Bud” and the dramatic storytelling of anime like “Haikyuu!!, and All Out!!.”
I’m an artist and majoring in communications, finishing my bachelor’s degree with a goal to become a digital media literacy educator. This blog is my training grounds: a space to analyze how media shapes athletic narratives, sketch the anatomy of a spike, and debate whether watching “Blue Lock” actually awakens your striker ego (evidence pending).
When I’m not busy warming up my anatomy skills sketching the player physiques, you can find me diving into the history of Hakuho Sho, one of the most famous sumo wrestlers, or hunting for the right shade of teal to match the Sharks’ uniform.
Jump on into the scrum.
